Visit Perth Ontario. Established in 1812 This Edition - Visit:   Perth, Ontario.
HISTORY records Perth Ontario as a unique military settlement named after the town of Perth in Scotland. After the War of 1812, Perth was established in the spring of 1816 as part of a stragetic defense plan against invasion from the south. By the fall of 1816 over 1,500 men, women and children occupied the scenic one square mile village of Perth.
Visit Perth Ontario. Established in 1812Perth, a once Farming Dependant Community, can tell you that diversification in times of access, really does pay off in the long run!
When you are in town and you hear someone say "Yep, my Family has been around these here parts for awhile" they mean almost 200 Years and when they say "I still live at home" they usually mean in the house built of Limestone by their Great-Great-Great Grandfather!
When they speak of long-time heritage and long-term standing in the Community, it usually means their family was well known for acts of kindness and benefits of plenty, over three generations, maybe four, within the Commmunity!
Demographically, the average age is 45 years old (stats 2002) and bullies don't run the show, therefore progress has not been hindered.
Ten years ago when times were tougher, it was common to sacrifice that new Chev 4x4 Pick Up and to invest into a new business venture.
Local Government and Charitable Organizations, responsibly maintained the upkeep of public buildings, protecting generations of Taxes and Labor that were invested with pride for the future, keeping their Youth in mind!
The local Churches, their Steeples visible from 20 kms away, were renowned for their assistance and support to the Community (and not just their own personal property)
The County itself, has a population of 6,000 people now, far more than when the editor herself was there in 1993.
Only an hour away from Ottawa, Perth offers Castle like Accomodations and catering of Royalty! With much to see by means of Heritage, steam run factories, still excist and the main swimming area, is center town at the old Waterhole in the Tay River.
Dandy Beaches, Old Water Mills, Autumn's Painted Canvas of Maple Leaves and Forestry, Wildlife and Winding Roads offers all Visitors a pleasurable experience, they aren't soon to forget! Visit Beautiful Perth.Com
