Click here for Part OneSwift Foxes. Solutions to Roadside Dens.
In conclusion to last months tragic feature on endangered Swift Foxes, we have some suggestions for solutions that could assist in saving the lives of our innocent little friends, as well as highway motorists.

Solutions to Roadside Dens
-> Creating Safer Driving Standards.
-> Less Confrontation between Wildlife and Vehicules.
-> Saving People's Lives.
-> Saving Wildlife.
-> Reduces Cost of Wildlife Officers, Police and Ambulance Services.

Our Solutions are Simple:
-> Early Spring, roadside Highway grass cutting.
By cutting away the tall grasses 30' into roadside gullys and trenches, eleviates high grasses that conceal dens.
Because Foxes of any species, are timid and precautious creatures, building a den where there is no hidden pretection deters the animals from setting up house.
This simple solution could also assist in deterring Deer, Wolves, Coyotes and other wildlife from suddenly finding themselves "Out of the Brush" and suddenly on a Highway!
By keeping up monthly maintenance in known problem areas, will reduce casualties within the first season.

In conclusion to the above assessment, we attempted to contact our local Wildlife-Conservation Officer, but to our dismay, upon arrival to our local office, once again the Office was closed with yet another note on the door stating "On Vacation till Aug. blah blah"
Due to the lack of availability, we will be contacting other County Wildlife Agencies to pursue feedback and input concerning the topic.
